    Sun protection: what does UPF 50+ mean?

    The ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) indicates the level of sun protection. This is a globally recognised standard that defines the level of protection offered by a fabric with regard to the amount of UV light absorbed.

    To meet the standard, the fabric must block at least 95% of UV rays. A rating of UPF 50+ means the fabric blocks at least 95% of UVA and 98% of UVB rays.
