How waterproof is it?
With its 20,000mm H2O (Schmerbers) waterproof rating, this jacket offers ideal protection when faced with changing weather conditions! Thorough laboratory tests show that it can withstand 18cm of rain in 2 hours, i.e. the conditions of an average storm in the mountains.
What is the purpose of a breathable jacket?
Unlike traditional waterproof jackets, this jacket truly breathes, thanks to its extremely breathable fabric (RET=6) and its large side openings. The result? You avoid condensation inside the jacket, remaining dry inside AND out while you climb!
Any details on the fit?
Slim fit with raglan sleeves for optimal stretch! This design completely frees up your movements when hiking in the mountains. You can easily wear a fleece or a lightweight padded jacket underneath, depending on the weather conditions and the altitude you reach.
A special hood
The height of the hood can be precisely adjusted thanks to its elastic drawcord and tightening toggle, while its semi-rigid peak provides effective protection. The advantage? A triangular side opening improves your peripheral vision.
Why choose a membrane fabric?
This jacket features a built-in, ultra-thin polyurethane film between its inner and outer layers. It stops water from entering while wicking away your sweat. Flexible, lightweight and breathable, this membrane guarantees lasting performance and resistance for your mountain adventures.
How is the waterproofing rating measured?
The waterproofing rating is measured in a laboratory according to the JIS 1092 standard. The laboratory tests the resistance of the fabric to water pressure, expressed as the height of a water column in mm: the higher it is, the better! With a rating of 20,000mm (or Schmerbers), this jacket can withstand the pressure of a 20m water column.
What is a RET index?
The Thermal Evaporative Resistance (RET) measures the ability of a fabric to wick away body moisture. The lower the RET value, the better! With a RET value of 6, this jacket offers exceptional moisture-wicking performance. Scale: <6 = extremely breathable, <12 = highly breathable, <20 = breathable, >20 = not very breathable.
How to restore the water-repellent properties?
Two simple methods to reactivate water repellency! A water-repellent fabric lets water slide off its surface without absorbing it, therefore remaining lightweight and breathable. Place your jacket in the tumble dryer for 10Â minutes at a low temperature.
